ATLANTA – John Monds will be announcing his intention to seek the Libertarian Party of Georgia’s nomination for Governor with a press conference at the Capitol in Atlanta with family, close friends and supporters by his side Wednesday, March 25th at 4:00pm.
During his campaign for Public Service Commission (District 1) in 2008, Monds became the first Libertarian to break one million votes in the United States.
Monds and the Libertarian Party believe Georgians are ready for something new and different. “It’s difficult to tell the difference between Republicans and Democrats; both want to raise your taxes, waste your money and increase the size and scope of state government,” said Monds.
“We must be competitive in the 21st Century. We must have meaningful tax reforms that allow businesses and individuals to thrive, a transportation system that eases congestion without raising taxes, an education system that gives more choices and returns control to the local level and we need to stop wasting the taxpayer’s money with mandated long term incarceration of individuals for non-violent victimless infractions of the law”
John Monds, 44, is a graduate of Morehouse College with a degree in Banking and Finance, President of the Grady County NAACP and currently serves on the Grady County Planning Commission.
He resides in Cairo with his wife, Dr. Kathaleena Edward Monds, and four children, Akintunde, Cazembe, Halima and Malik.

Finally, a choice.
If I were Chris Matthews I might feel something “furrowing up my leg.” Seriously, I am excited and cannot wait for the upcoming election. The people of GA will finally have a candidate worth voting for.
Gotta agree with that last.
I wasn’t even an LP member in 2006 - just a disgruntled GOPer at that point, wasn’t aware of the LP at all - and even then, I had to hold my nose when voting.
FINALLY, I can hold my head high and shout from the rafters that there IS a candidate worth supporting for Governor, and that candidate is John Monds!
I would like to get to know Mr. Monds’ platform and theories. I am truly excited about the prospect of having a Libertarian Choice for Governor. Please feel free to post information etc… at http://www.letstalklibertarian.com where Libertarians from around the U.S. go to talk about issues and candidates.
How do you feel about Governor Perdue accepting donations from Robins AFB contractors and their lawyers, then refusing to help the small businesses who are being shut out of contracting because of the political favoritism?
Do you accept money from Robins AFB contractors?
John Monds, from what little I’ve learned about you, I’ve already fallen in love with your candidacy. DuBose Porter just sounds like more of the same and the GOP down here’s the devil come to life. John Monds in 2010 all the way!! I hope you plan on launching some radio ads before the year is up. We need to get an early start if we’re going to really take on these ***holes.
We shared college dorm life & since then, John is the godfather of my children.
His & Kathy’s family values are solid and you can’t fix a community nor state
without that!
Mr. Monds how do stand on the Natura Born Citizen issue?
Obama is not a Natural Born Citizen of the United States! The United States Constitution, Article. II. Section. 1. clause 5 “No Person except a Natural Born Citizen, can be President.” Obama’s, Certificate of live birth states his father is a foreigner.
Because Barr wouldn’t take astand on this issue I plan on voteing for Dr. Keyes
in the next cycle.
I will not vote D or R in GA because all in office will not uphold their oath of office to uphold and defend The United States Constitution.
All I want is someone to do no more or less than what The United States Constitution and The Georgia Constitution allows.
Mrs. Handel and all my congress people refused to up hold their oath of office. I am looking to vote for a person who has at least read The United States Constitution and Georgia Constitution and agrees this is the type of goverment we want and demand.
Nothing more and nothing less.
I am so excited to know we have a Libertarian candidate!! Finally a voice of reason.
